Aortic Aneurysm

An Aortic Aneurysm is a serious condition where a part of the aorta — the main artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body — becomes weak and bulges outward like a balloon. If left untreated, the aneurysm can grow and may eventually rupture, leading to life-threatening internal bleeding.

Causes of Aortic Aneurysm

Several factors can weaken the walls of the aorta, leading to the development of an aneurysm, including:

Atherosclerosis (Hardening of Arteries)
High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
Genetic Disorders such as Marfan syndrome or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
Smoking
Age (More common in people over 60 years)
Infections affecting the aorta
Trauma or injury to the chest or abdomen

If you have risk factors, regular check-ups with a vascular specialist are recommended.
